Tyquan Thornton, Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Wide Receiver
Our thoughts on 2022 NFL rookie Wide Receiver Tyquan Thornton.
6'2" 181 lbs.
4.28 40-yard dash (100th percentile)
36.5 Vertical jump
10'10" Broad jump
93rd percentile speed score
90th percentile burst score
"Can you really trust the Patriots?"
The one thing everyone knows is that he has blazing speed and was a high school track star.
Thornton is lengthy and possesses the leaping skills to make grabs over defenders with his hands away from his frame.
He displays toughness as a blocker and seems always to be fighting for extra yards.
Tyquan has the toe-tapping skills you want to see from a wide receiver.
The Patriots surprised everyone by taking Thornton before George Pickens, Alec Pierce, and Skyy Moore.
If you are worried about weight, he is thin and has the skinniest wrists (6 ⅛") and small hands (8 ¼"), so 50/50 balls could be a problem.
His transitions from catching to running in the open field and doesn't look smooth.
He lacks the strength to compete against more physical NFL defensive backs.
Thornton has the speed, length, and toughness you want to see in an NFL wide receiver. Let's hope the Patriots knew what they were doing when they picked Tyquan Thornton before George Pickens, Alec Pierce, and Skyy Moore; you shouldn't be taking him before these players in your drafts. Thornton's speed could make him dynamic or a boom or bust player; it is hard to say at this point. The biggest problem is that the Patriots drafted him; nothing about their teams inspires confidence in dynasty fantasy.
