Our thoughts on 2022 NFL rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore.

Measurables:

  • 5'9.5" 195 lbs.

  • 4.41 forty-yard dash.

  • 34.5” vertical, 10’5” broad jump.

  • 10.25' hands

  • 99th percentile target share

  • 90th percentile college dominator

"Sky Moore lays it all on the line to make a catch."

Strengths:

  • Moore uses his large hands to snatch the ball out of the air at the very last second.

  • He is a good route runner and is great at catching balls thrown behind him without losing a step on the defender.

  • With a compact body combined with his physicality, he fights through jams, beats presses with leverage, and is an instinctive ball carrier that often breaks the first tackle.

  • Skyy played both quarterback and cornerback in high school, giving him a defensive mindset and toughness. He also earned all-section honors as a point guard two years in a row.

  • He was one of five wide receivers to average 7.9 receptions per game last season.

  • Moore had the most forced missed tackles in 2021.

  • When targeted, his quarterback's rating was 116, as he had only seven drops.

Weaknesses:

  • His 4.41 speed doesn’t always show up on game film.

  • He will need to work on his setup skills to create separation versus defensive backs.

  • Moore can potentially be a great slot receiver but is still a smaller target.

  • 85% of his targets came within 20 yards of the line of scrimmage.

  • We often see wide receivers that lack the will to block, Moore is willing but he's not great at it either.

  • He has a history of ankle injuries but mostly in high school and missed two games in each of last two seasons.

  • The competition he played against might be one of the biggest concerns. He had two receptions for 20 yards versus Michigan and four receptions for 41 yards against Michigan State, arguably the two best schools he faced.

Drunk Thoughts

Moore looks and plays like Julian Edelman; six years of top 20 wide receiver production is possible. The fact that Moore will be playing with Patrick Mahomes for those six makes him an attractive first-round rookie draft pick. It may take the entire 2022 season for Moore to gain a role due to competition at the position. Once he shows that he is a reliable target, Mahomes will be looking for him on scramble plays, and of course, Andy Reid will find a way to get him the ball. If he has a Julian Edelman-like career, you won't regret drafting him, but don't overpay because of the landing spot; think Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
