Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Josh Palmer.
Our thoughts on 2021 dynasty fantasy football rookie Josh Palmer.
Josh Palmer, six foot one, 210 pounds out of Tennessee. He was drafted in the third round by the Chargers. Palmer ran a 4.51 forty-yard dash. His two best games were important ones. He showed up against Alabama and Georgia for three of his four touchdowns in 2020. Josh Palmer was matched up against three of the top prospects at cornerback. Palmer never reached 500 yards, never had more than four touchdowns, or more than 34 catches. Josh Palmer had two receptions or less in10 of his games and only one game of at least 100 yards.
"He is likely inline to repalce Mike Williams."
Palmer had only one catch from within the red zone the past two seasons. You would think a receiver his size would have more targets and catches. Palmer has a good feel for the boundary and makes catches near the out-of-bounds markers. His lack of production could be because Tennessee was not good, and the same could be said for the quarterback play.
Palmer doesn’t appear to do anything with the ball after the catch. He comes down with the ball and gets a couple of yards, and he's done. Josh has some leaping ability but doesn’t seem to have burst off the line of scrimmage. His footwork, ball skills, and toughness should earn him a regular role.
The Chargers had to have had seen something in Palmer to take him in the third round, but if Mike Williams ever becomes a thing, it might hamper Palmer’s upside. Having Justin Herbert as your quarterback should mean plenty of targets.
