Our thoughts on 2022 NFL rookie Running Back Hassan Haskins.

Measurables:

  • 6'1" 228 lbs

  • 27 Bench reps at the combine (93rd percentile)

"Hassan is a beast. - Derrick Henry"

Strengths:

  • Haskins is a big-bodied running back that runs with power and always seems to fall forward. A little leg left right before the tackle gives him those few extra yards.

  • He is patient as he follows his blockers and moves quickly to the inside.

  • His physicality is evident when he is asked to block on passing downs.

  • Special teams experience will help him see the field sooner. He finished with 278 career snaps on special teams coverage.

  • Hassan Haskins broke out for 20 rushing touchdowns and over 1,300 rushing yards in 2021.

  • He had the most 1st down rushes in a game by a power five running back in 2021.

  • No fumbles in 2021!

Weaknesses:

  • He didn't run the 40-yard dash and doesn't appear to have the speed to get around the edge.

  • His lack of speed resulted in only 3 of his 270 carries in 2021 going for over 25 yards or more.

  • While 2021 was a great year, he only has one season of meaningful production.

  • Haskins has been durable but was banged up after the 2021 season and missed the Senior Bowl while also not running any drills at the combine.

Drunk Thoughts

Hassan Haskins is an easy choice late in your rookie drafts. Two players from Michigan schools had breakout years in 2021, Haskins from Michigan and Walker from Michigan State. While not an apples-to-apples comparison, Haskins had seven more carries, one more touchdown, 42 more receiving yards on five more receptions, and only 310 fewer rushing yards compared to Walker. Hassan Haskins doesn't have the same game-breaking speed, but you don't always need that to be a productive fantasy running back. Derrick Henry ran a 4.54 forty-yard dash, and Haskins could succeed in the same offense. Henry is getting older in running back age, and Hassan Haskins looks to be the prime backup candidate and maybe the future replacement.
