Matt Corral, Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Quarterback

Our thoughts on 2022 dynasty fantasy football rookie QB Matt Corral.
Matt "OK" Corral comes out of Ole Miss as a 3-year starter at QB. He's 6'1" & 212 pounds; he didn't participate in any workouts at the combine due to a right ankle injury. the Only thing we got out of him in Indy is 9 5/8" hands and a wingspan of 74.5".
" ...his placement on short to intermediate routes seemed to always lead receivers away from trouble."
Athleticism is an essential part of Corral's game as a passer and runner. He throws with a quick release and excellent reaction time. He can switch delivery points and possesses a live arm allowing him to drive the ball with no problem.
One of the best things I saw is Matt's ability to put the ball on the upfield shoulder of his receiver on slants, and his placement on short to intermediate routes seemed to always lead wide receivers away from trouble. He can scan the field quickly and efficiently as he goes through the progressions. His interception number dropped from 14 in 2020 to 5 in 2021, which is a result of him not forcing as many throws this past season. Corral's former head coach at Ole Miss, Matt Luke, said: "kids gravitate towards him." He's also battled through his share of off-the-field adversity, which shows a lot of maturity.
The list of negatives begins with his small frame. Corral played in the 205-210 lb. range, and that's a little concerning from a durability standpoint. His post-snap progressions are a bit of a question mark since he relied on predetermined reads and play action in Lane Kiffin's system. Did cut down on interceptions last season and was smarter throwing the ball away, but committed seven intentional grounding penalties last year. Matt Corral has 23 career fumbles, including 8 in 2021. He's battled several ankle issues in his career, including the right ankle injury that cost him his final college game.
Corral played in head coach Lane Kiffin's RPO-based shotgun spread scheme as a three-year starter at Ole Miss. He was the only FBS player with at least 3,300 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in 2020 and 2021. He may be undersized but plays with great twitch and processes quickly. Corral comfortably throws from all platforms with zip.
Dynasty Outlook
Matt Corral is currently expected to go in the late 2nd to early 3rd of the NFL draft; that's where I'd be looking to take him in 1QB leagues. In Super-Flex, I think he will go late 1st or early 2nd. I jokingly referred to him as Matt "OK" Corral on the show last week, and I think it describes him well as an NFL prospect. He's unproven in many aspects of playing the QB position, but he is a good athlete with a nice arm and good instincts. With the right scheme and coaching, I think Matt has a chance to be a play-maker in the league.
