Our thoughts on 2022 dynasty fantasy football rookie Kenny Pickett.
Kenny Pickett out of Pittsburgh, 6'3, 217 pounds, ran a 4.73 40-yard dash, 34 inch vertical, 10'1 broad jump, and all people can talk about are his 8.5-inch hands. The concern with his hand size can potentially be illustrated by his 26 lost fumbles on a total of 38 career fumbles.

According to NFL Draft Buzz, Pickett is only the third quarterback from the ACC to pass for 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns; the previous two quarterbacks were Jameis Winston and Deshaun Watson.
Pickett has a natural ability to anticipate windows opening over the middle, and he puts the ball in great spots for his receivers and helps keep them out of danger. He possesses elite accuracy on short and intermediate throws and while on the run. Pickett has near-perfect mechanics and looks like a pro-caliber quarterback, with scouts saying that his mechanics are probably some of the best they've seen from a college quarterback.
Pickett may get a little skittish or a little jumpy when the pocket collapses. Pickett bails out when he might not need to, but he might be leaving early because he is a good passer out of the pocket and an excellent overall runner. Pickett is such a good runner that the NCAA had to create the "Pickett Rule" after a fake slide in the ACC championship game.
His accuracy and reads on deep passes are suspect. Many people will knock Pickett for only having one great season, but according to PFF, he had one of the most significant single-season leaps they've ever seen in scoring. Entering 2021, Kenny Pickett had no more than 13 touchdowns but recorded 42 in his fifth year. He didn't have a single game in 2021 with less than two passing touchdowns. An offensive coordinator may need to tailor the offense to Pickett's strengths but if he can go to a west coast offense, then we expect him to have a ton of success at the NFL level.
Dynasty Outlook
Kenny Pickett is currently going in the 2nd round of rookie drafts. His average draft position feels perfect and sets you up for a great return on investment. Pickett may not have all the flashy skills that get people excited, but he looks ready for the NFL after having a little more time in college. Ideally, Pickett would go somewhere he doesn't have to start right away and sits behind a veteran; think the Colts or the Buccaneers. Kenny Pickett has a chance to be good anywhere he goes.
