Kenneth Walker III, Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie.

Our thoughts on 2022 dynasty fantasy football rookie Kenneth Walker III.
Kenneth Walker III, running back out of Michigan, 5'9, 211 pounds. At 211 pounds, you expect him to bulk up a bit, and he has room on his frame to add a little. Ran a 4.38 forty-yard dash, 34' inch vertical, and 10'2 broad jump. Walker led the nation in broken tackles, tied both Jonathan Taylor and Rashad Penny with the highest average yards after contact in a season at 4.5 yards. He could be the most well-rounded running back in this Walker has the power, speed, and looseness you want to see in an NFL running back.
"you still love to see an NFL rookie compared to one of the all-time greats."
He can explode through small holes without dancing, and once he sees a hole, he hits it and is gone. Walker had a huge workload with six straight games with 20 plus carries but showed no signs of wearing down, so it shows he can carry the load, as we might say. He had two fumbles on 506 touches which will earn him a coach's trust as he doesn't put the ball on the ground. Walker has the longest run in school history at Michigan State and Wake Forest.
If you want to talk explosiveness, he had 30 runs of 15 yards or more in 2021 while only having four games under 100 yards. You probably need to subtract about five touchdowns in 2021 total as he had games where he recorded 5, 4, and 3 touchdowns. Those touchdown numbers don't seem highly reproducible; we are not necessarily knocking him for this, just trying to account for these outbounds games and average it to reality.
We talk about this with every running back but Kenneth's pass protection absolutely sucked and looked like he's out there trying not to get hurt and just letting people run around. Walker could be a three-down running back but will likely come off the field for passing downs. He had only 18 receptions in college and never caught a pass ten-plus yards downfield. With so few receptions, he totaled one receiving touchdown throughout college.
Dynasty Outlook
Some may ask if he is a one-year wonder and needs to be in the right offense. He did not produce at Wake Forest before breaking out at Michigan. The transfer is probably because Wake Forest wasn't using him the way he thought he should be in the running game. Walker is the second running back off the board in your rookie drafts unless something changes or he gets an ideal landing spot. It also doesn't hurt that he is being compared to LaDainian Tomlinson. As always, take that with a grain of salt, but you still love to see an NFL rookie compared to one of the all-time greats.
